100,000 Round Guarantee
Browning is so confident in the A5, they are standing behind it with a 100,000 round or five year guarantee that this shotgun will work, come hell or high water.
Get the Humpback Acquisition Advantage
Built from rugged and lightweight aircraft-grade aluminium alloy, the A5 receiver’s shape is more than a throwback for the sake of nostalgia. The familiar humpback receiver profile melds seamlessly with the rib to extend your sight plane, aiding in natural sight alignment for quicker target acquisition and more accurate shooting.
Kinematic Drive System
In its simplest term, kinetic energy is the energy of motion. The new Browning A5 makes better use of kinetic energy with its powerful, short recoil-operated Kinematic Drive System. Kinematic Drive harnesses recoil energy and converts it into the mechanical motion needed to operate the action. This concept is tried and true, and now perfected by the company that broke ground first with autoloading shotguns. The beauty of Kinematic Drive is the simplicity of design for consistent, reliable function with any load and under the full extremes of weather, temperature, moisture and grime.
Ergo Balanced
Features and looks are only part of the A5 equation for success. The new A5 feels incredibly balanced in your hands from pad to muzzle. It feels light and swings fast. Put an A5 to the real test by picking one up. The grip is comfortable, and the forearm is compact and narrow, placing your front hand closer to the bore line for superior hand-eye coordination and pointability.
Inflex Technology
The new Inflex Technology recoil pad is the most comfortable, effective pad available. That's because Inflex Technology is more than a mass of recoil absorbing material, the innovation is engineered into the pad. Underneath the material, an internal skeleton has been designed using the concept of directional deflection. When a Browning with the Inflex recoil pad is fired, the pad collapses, but instead of simply moving to the rear, directional ribs pull the comb down and away from your face for even greater shooting comfort and faster follow-ups.
Inflex Technology is on several Browning rifles and shotguns. The video explains the version on the Browning X-Bolt rifle. The same principles apply on the other Browning guns fitted with Inflex.
Speed Load Plus
Speed Loading has been popular on Browning autoloaders for decades. Browning’s patent-pending feeding system sends the first shell loaded into the magazine directly into the chamber.
The "Plus" in Speed Load Plus means unloading is just as easy. On some autoloaders unloading the magazine requires the repetitive working of the action to chamber then eject shells one at a time. The speed unload feature makes emptying the magazine fast and easy, without having to to do this. Speed Load has always been an essential feature for the most avid duck hunters who like the speed with which they can reload the chamber after unloading their magazine -- to get back on the next birds faster.
“Speed loading” became synonymous with John Moses Browning's Automatic 5 but was actually the invention of his son Val Browning (also a great gun designer) with the patent awarded in 1952.
The Speed Load Plus feature is demonstrated and explained in the video below using the new Browning A5.
Turnkey Magazine Plug
With most shotguns, the process of installing or removing a magazine plug is a chore. Not so with Browning shotguns fitted with the Turnkey Magazine Plug System. The innovative, patent-pending Turnkey Magazine Plug is quickly removed using any vehicle key. Combined with the Speed Lock Forearm, the magazine plug can be removed from the Maxus in just a few seconds.
Many people leave their magazine plug in all the time. Others, who are not waterfowlers, take theirs out for good. A few good reasons to be able to remove and reinstall yours easily might be:
You are using your Browning with Turnkey for hunting deer with slugs -- and it is the same gun you use for waterfowl.
You hunt snow geese in the late seasons when no plug is required You hunt upland game in places where no plug is required and you will want more than three shots if you bust up a covey.
You are out West hunting jack rabbits (which don't require a plug in your gun) and you are hunting waterfowl during the same time of year.
Whatever your reason, finally the hassle is gone when it comes to swapping your plug in and out. It is always good before every hunt requiring your plug to check it before you case your gun and load up. Of course, this is easy with the Browning Turnkey Magazine Plug. In the video, one of Browning's senior design engineers demonstrates the Turnkey system on a Browning A5.
Ergonomic Bolt Latch
The bolt latch locks the bolt to the rear when the magazine is unloaded and releases a shell from the magazine when the bolt is closed for faster loading. The oversized shape makes the bolt latch easy to locate and operate.
Customized Fit
A5 shotguns include one 1/4 inch and one 1/2 inch stock spacer for length of pull adjustment. Drop and cast can be tuned using the included stock shim kit.
Nickel Teflon Coating
The bolt, bolt slide, shell carrier, bolt release button and cocking handle of the A5 have a nickel Teflon coating for added corrosion protection, lubricity and makes cleaning easier.
Steel Shot Performance
Browning has long been at the forefront of dependable steel shot performance and durability.
Total Barrel Dynamics
The concept of Total Barrel Dynamics covers every aspect of the barrel that contributes to overall shotgun performance. This may include improvements to some or all of these key barrel features on most 12 and 20 gauge models. It is important to note that not all Browning shotguns have Total Barrel Dynamics and that some have only portions of the package of features.
Back-Bored
Browning was the first firearms company to offer factory back-boring to shotguns for reduced recoil and improved patterns. Back-boring increases the inside bore diameter to its ideal, maximum allowable specification. This reduces friction between the shot cup and the barrel, allowing the energy developed by the powder to propel the shot pellets to a higher velocity.
Reducing friction from the forcing cone on the shot column also results in fewer deformed pellets for more uniform patterns and keeps more pellets in the centre of the pattern. Back-bored barrels work hand-in-hand with the Browning Invector-Plus™ interchangeable choke system.
Vector Pro means longer is better
The advantages of a lengthened forcing cone are many. The forcing cone is the tapered transition between the chamber and the bore that constricts the shot column. The longer the forcing cone is, the more gradual the constriction. A gradual constriction reduces stress on the shot column as it passes into the bore, resulting in fewer deformed pellets. Less pellet deformation produces more uniform patterns and keeps more pellets in the central part of the pattern. Vector Pro is better than the competitors’ forcing cone designs because of the more gradual constriction. Lengthening forcing cones is a popular and expensive aftermarket practice done to increase shot pattern performance. But it comes standard on A5, Maxus, BT-99 and on 12 and 20 gauge Citori and Cynergy models.
Invector-DS
The new Browning Invector-DS choke tube system is the biggest leap forward in design since interchangeable choke tubes were introduced. With the Invector-DS, Browning has taken the proven thin wall, muzzle thread choke concept to the next level of shot pattern performance. The exclusive brass alloy band at the base of the tube seals out gas and grit that sneaks between the barrel and tube, making the Invector-DS tubes easy to remove even after extensive shooting. Thin wall construction reduces the flare at the end of the barrel for a sleeker shotgun appearance. Lastly, the Invector-DS offers the most consistent, reliable tightening of any system ever. With all these features, you can’t lose with Invector-DS. The video below (filmed showing the A5 shotgun) explains key advantages.
